Javea (Costa Blanca):
Situated in the north of Costa Blanca the secluded
town of Javea is an old established resort sandwiched
between the dramatic cliffs of Cabo de Nao and Cabo
de San Antoni. Nestling at the foot of the dramatic
Montgo mountain to the north west it has a microclimate
which provides some of the best weather found in Europe
.It is renowned for its mild winters.
The original old town has remained almost untouched
by tourism over the years. A maze of winding streets
faced with immaculate white painted houses studded with
gothic style windows ,wrought iron grills and colourful
potted plants cluster around the impressive fortified
ancient church of San Bartolome . Bars ,restaurants
and shops bring this inviting area to life especially
in the evenings.
An attractive harbour area with its palm lined promenade
draws much interest and is the place where many a leisurely
evening can be spent at the waterside restaurants watching
the sunset with a glass of local wine. Local works of
art are temptingly displayed in the excellent shops
where it is hard not to be tempted to spend.
To the southern end of the bay you will find Playa
Arenal and its beach of soft sand and ample beach facilities.
Jewellery and trinket stalls ,lively cafes, ice cream
parlours and restaurants bring the area to life at night.
Twenty five kilometres of coastline surround the area
dotted with many panoramic viewpoints for those special
photos. Submerged caves and spectacular rock formations
are a favourite venue for scuba divers and watersports
enthusiasts with Grandalla being especially worth a
trip.
Javea has become very popular and hosts clubs and societies
covering every imaginable interest. There are two excellent
golf clubs in the area Javea and La Sella , near Denia.
This boasts an 18 hole par 72 course with a length of
more than 6,000 metres and views all along the valley.
Horse riding, boat trips and walking are also popular
pastimes all year round. Its proximity to the nearby
port of Denia with its typical Spanish feel ,excellent
shops and ferry to the Balearics is an added bonus.
