Girona (Costa Brava):
Girona is the major town of the region with its impressive
13 th century cathedral and city walls dominating the
old town at the point where the rivers Onyar, Ter,Guell
and Galligants converge. Especially outstanding sights
include the Monastery of Sant Pere de Galligants, ,
the Araba baths and the Jewish quarter where the narrow
streets are kept much as they have always been. This
historic backdrop makes an ideal stage for the many
cultural festivals and exhibitions which take place
throughout the year.
Banyoles is a nearby village popular with the locals
with museums of prehistoric excavations and a beautiful
lake where boat houses from the previous century are
picturesquely dotted around a spectacular lake.
Quart is famous for its green and black ceramics and
a must for those keen on craft products.
